of
the lid rests. This minimises the loss of steam. The water supplied
to the Still through the constant level arrangement also serves
to condense the steam in the condenser, thus the water is warmed
up even before it reaches the container where it is converfed into
steam. The condenser tube can be dismantled without difficulty by
removing the wing nuts which hold the condenser and jacket together.
The evaporating vessel is exposed by removing the lid. The Still
is fitted with immersion type elements which are capable of displacing
the connectors if the still runs dry. However, to ensure long service,
special care should be exercised to avoid the Still running dry
as the protective arrangement cannot be expected to last normally
beyond three operations. In case of burn-out of the heating element,
it can be easily replaced. The output of the still is approximate
as it is bound to vary according to the voltage of the mains.
The
Still is provided with a bracket (to be fixed on the wall) on which
the still can rest.
